Monitoring Muntjac deer (Muntiacus) and their impacts in Monks Wood National Nature Reserve (ENRR681)

By the mid-1990s, the conservation features of Monks Wood National Nature Reserve (NNR) were being directly and indirectly affected by the large population of muntjac deer Muntiacus reevesi. This report describes monitoring undertaken on the deer and the impacts of their activities, and the extent to which impacts have been reduced by management. Surveillance and monitoring information is provided on the deer, exclosures, ground flora, woody vegetation and flora.
