Guidance on dealing with the changing distribution of tree species (TIN053)

Native tree species are considered to be of higher value than non-native species for nature conservation because they are a link to the original natural conditions. However, the definition of what should be considered native is the subject of debate. This note explores the issues and recommends a flexible approach to dealing with non-native species that are native on the near continent and which may naturalise in England.
