East Dartmoor Woods and Heaths NNR: Trendlebere Down - The post fire re-colonisation events of vegetation and invertebrates on Trendlebere Down 1998 (RP1685)

This undergraduate research project investigated the re-colonisation of vegetation and invertebrates on moorland that had been the subject of a major uncontrolled fire 4 months prior to the study. Two areas with differing levels of severity of burn were studied with a view to implications for subsequent land management. It was concluded that re-colonisation of plant species occurred rapidly and naturally without management intervention. Data regarding invertebrate levels was difficult to assess as little data was available prior to the burn.
