Thumbnail image of publication cover.

This guidance is a national framework for land managers, owners or their agents in the uplands. It concerns infrastructure works on moorlands that are also designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and/ or a European site. It gives guidance on the following common moorland infrastructure works:
 Water scrapes
 Grit Stations
 Shooting butts
It has been produced in close consultation with uplands organisations and its principles can also be applied outside the designated sites network. Natural England’s aim for the guide is for it to promote consistency and good practice across the uplands.
