East Dartmoor Woods and Heaths NNR: Yarner Wood NNR - Some aspects of the ecology of the Wood Ant Formica rufa L (Hymenoptera Formicidae) in two types of Devon woodland (RP1325)

Re-analysis of unpublished paper by Ferguson(1982). The aim of this research project was to re-survey Formica rufa L. nest distribution and location within Yarner Wood NNR. The survey was carried out in two locations identified from a historical survey carried out in the 1980s. The historical data was collated to enable direct analysis of distribution patterns with this survey and provide a methodology for future monitoring.

The report contains information on the ecology of Formica rufa L., survey methodology, survey results, threats and management recommendations.
