East Dartmoor Woods & Heaths NNR: Yarner Wood - A survey of Leucobryum glaucum (pin cushion moss) at Yarner Heath 2012 (RP1006)

Areas of lowland heathland and high forest oakland in Yarner Wood were surveyed for pin cushion moss Leucobryum glaucum. The area of supporting habitat and the percentage cover of the moss was recorded as well as the size and location of the colonies.

This species is found throughout the reserve. The area surveyed refects the variety of habitat it occurs in. A full survey of the reserve and surounding areas that make up the East Dartmoor National Nature Reserve (Trendlebere Down and the Bovey Valley Woodland) was not undertaken owing to time constraints.
