Plymouth Zostera Marina Sublittoral Monitoring Studies 2009 (RP01044)

Natural England commissioned Marine Environmental Consultants to undertake diving survey of the eelgrass Zostera marina bed with the Plymouth Sound and Estuaries SAC.

The survey was designed to intiate a repeatable study (at least once in evey 6 years) monitoring programme, against which the condition of the site will be measured.

Closing statement

The report and associated data provides clear snapshot of status (extent and quality) of subtidal eelgrass beds around Plymouth Sound for the purposes of assessing condition of this subfeature. Generally the seagrass beds in Plymouth Sound at this time were found to be in favourable condition.
