East Dartmoor Woods and Heaths NNR: Trendlebere Down NNR; Pearl bordered and small pearl bordered fritillary populations on Dartmoor (RP2780)

This is a report as part of an undergraduate degree, on the populations and habitat requirements of the pearl bordered and small pearl bordered fritillaries Boloria euphrosyne and B. selene at 11 sites in East Dartmoor, including Trendlebere Down and Yarner Wood NNRs. Most sites studied were found to provide habitat more suitable for B. selene than B. euphrosyne, though other potential factors affecting population numbers are suggested. Recommendations include management to restore sites to earlier stages of succession, and increasing habitat connectivity.
