The purpose of this paper is to:
- examine the implications and the meaning of sustainable development for agriculture with particular reference to nature conservation;
- a define the broad paranieters of what English Nature would consider to constitute sustainable development in agriculture;
- examine the policy framework required to secure such objectives for sustainable development and the opportunities and constraints that EN is likely to encounter.
