Stiperstones NNR - Bat Activity Survey, The Stiperstones NNR 2010 (RP0698)

Four bat activity transect surveys were carried out in order to generate some baseline bat species distrbution data. The objectives were to establish bat species using the site and the key areas and key habitat types used by bats, specific to the site. At least nine species of bat were recorded. Woodland and boundary hedgerows have been shown to be important foraging territories. Of notable interest was the propensity for bats to forage over bracken stands (often with scattered small trees).
