Broadscale mapping of Morecambe Bay (ENRR232)

Large areas of sparse faunal turf were a dominant feature, particularly on the western side of the Bay, interspersed with areas of rich faunal turf, particularly at the outlets of the Walney Channel and Wyre and Lune rivers. Large areas of rippled sand were found on the eastern side of the bay. Dominant lifeforms identified were Sabella pavonina and Lanice conchilega. Mussel beds were identified, with a live bed of Mytilus edulis found on the north central part of the bay.
