Geology and biodiversity - making the links (IN146)

Geology is an important foundation for ecosystems. Geological processes influence climate, and the rocks themselves form the basis for soils. Biodiversity is therefore influenced by geological diversity. Using the links between them can be useful for site management (both species and habitats), carrying out surveys and looking at landscapes.
This booklet explores the ways in which geology and biodiversity are linked, and looks at ecosystems past, present and future. It aimed to provide glimpses of the diverse connections and challenges conservationists to take a holistic approach.
