Lowland heathland - a cultural and endangered landscape (IN86)

This leaflet focuses on the importance of lowland heathland for wildlife and the importance of management to maintain and restore this habitat. It explains why sometimes it is necessary to cut trees down or to fence in order to graze heathland sites for nature conservation. It also incorporates historical and cultural aspects of heathlands: these landscapes are a part of our history as much as our cathedrals and also created by human efforts. And likewise, they deserve protection.
