The breeding whinchat are part of the important bird assemblage of the Stiperstones and Hollies Site of Special Scientific Interest. Their numbers appear to be declining and it is not known whether this is in line with local and national populations or a site-based issue. This project undertook a breeding survey of whinchat on the Stiperstones NNR, during the 2013 field season between May and June, in accordance with the specified methodology.
