The aim of this study was to improve scientific data on soil moisture at Stiperstones. The basis of the observation recordings were used to verify the Fire Severity Index (FSI) and strengthen the analysis performance of the FSI. Site characterisation included information on climate, temperature, rainfall and geology. All these aspects were used to form conclusions. Met Office – Thomas Francis 2010 Ref – Stiperstones /152
