Three areas at the southern end of the ridge, Heath Mynd, Cefn Gunthly and Black Rhadley Hill, were surveyed. Maps are used for mapping species distribution.
In addition, four transects of skylark and meadow pipit carried out in 1996 were repeated in 2006, to ascertain whether any changes in the estimated breeding population of these two species has occured.
