Stiperstones NNR - The Stiperstones Bird Survey 1995 (RP0690)

Surveys of heathland and upland breeding birds were carried out on The Stiperstones NNR in spring 1995. The principal survey technique was that of the Common Birds Census. Effort was concentrated on the southernmost half of the reserve, which is the area subject to the highest visitor pressure. This area of the NNR was found to hold in excess of 1% of the estimated Shropshire population of red grouse, cuckoo, whinchat, stonechat and grasshopper warbler.
