This document sets out the key principles and some specific expectations for the management of National Nature Reserves (NNRs). The standards have been developed by Natural England working in partnership with other NNR managing organisations. They apply to all NNRs, whether they are Natural England’s responsibility or are managed by Approved Bodies.
This 2023 revision updates some of the content and phrasing to align more closely with current nature conservation initiatives.
