In 2003 ADAS produced a report assessing the effectiveness of agreements made under the Countryside Stewardship Scheme (CSS) and Environmentally Sensitive Areas (ESA) schemes towards the ‘restoration’ of traditional farm buildings. The intention of this new project is to review and update this method to reflect ES being a single scheme with Maintenance and Restoration options, and to test the new processes that were put in place as a direct result of the report recommendations, including the HLS historic building assessment process and its effectiveness. Funding for this project has been agreed via RDPE Technical Assistance.
