Natural England publishing standards for commissioned reports (NECR000)

This guidance has been developed to help ensure that Natural England Commissioned Reports (NECRs) are written in a style and format that is suitable for publication. All content that Natural England publishes must be accessible. This means making sure that anyone can use it, regardless of differences or impairments.

When producing a commissioned report for Natural England you must use the report template provided under ‘Downloads available for this record’ and follow the guidance within it. This will ensure that your document meets publishing standards and you produce a properly structured Word document that will convert into an accessible PDF.

If a document is submitted for publication on the Access to Evidence Catalogue that is not accessible, publication will be delayed until the issues are fixed, or we may be unable to publish it in that format.

Please submit the final draft of your report as a Word file (not PDF), to your Natural England contact.

Upon starting any new projects with Natural England please return to this page as the guidance may have been updated.

If you experience any issues with the template or you require further information please contact Natural England Publications (publications@naturalengland.org.uk).
