Evaluations are key instruments in our ever changing world. Evaluation helps shape priorities and objectives, as well as providing evidence needed to develop and implement future policies. The ecosystem service pilots trialled and tested using the ecosystem approach, working collaboratively with partners at a landscape scale, to enhance natural capital for multiple benefits. The lessons learnt from these three place-based pilots (located in the South Pennines, Bassenthwaite Catchment and the South West Uplands) are particularly relevant to understand how we can best implement Natural England’s Conservation Strategy and contribute to the delivery of the Government’s 25 year Environment Plan.
